NEWSFLASH: An Important Summer Update

SUMMER TIMES

The Summer Theme: Here Comes the Sun is the theme of the Summer. We are going to be talking about various stories and Bible passages that reference the Sun in some way. The emphasis will be on God's creative power and the fact that He is the Light! Each Sunday the kids will have a summer fun snack as well.

Services: KidsROCK is going to be on for most Sundays in the Summer. But it is important to note that there are no KidsROCK services available here at Highview on July 24th or on July 31st. There will be things happening for families on these days. Please see the flyer at Highview entitled "Special Summer Services" for details.

THE SUMMER SCHEDULE IS POSTED FOR VOLUNTEERS

Thank you for meeting the needs of the Highview children throughout the Summer! Ministry still happens throughout the course of the Summer and your help with that is appreciated. The Summer Schedule has been posted for those helping on Sunday morning for Pebbles Nursery and Cornerstone. The schedule can be found on the cork board in the Lower Level. Please try to switch with people if you have a schedule conflict and inform Ian Peers of any switches - especially for Cornerstone!

“MINUTE TO WIN IT” – KIDS VERSION

WERE EVERY CHILD WILL DISCOVER THEY ARE “MEANT TO LIVE”

Sunday, June 12 to 26, 2011

We are going into a three week series to inspire children to fully experience all the possibilities God has locked up inside them.

A long time ago God called Moses to do something HUGE by helping the people of Israel get out of major trouble in Egypt. He did not feel like he was able to do the task but God helped him discover that he could. God asks each child to know they are meant to live for Him. Even though children may not always feel like they are able to do this God will show them the way!

Children are going to discover that they all have talents they have been given by God. One fun way we are going to explore this is through the thrilling game “Minute To Win It” where children are going to have tasks to complete in under 60 seconds.

Series is Based On: Exodus 3:1-4:17 – Moses’ Reluctance

At the end of the series, we will want children to:

1. Know – It’s possible for them to have impact
2. Feel – Inspired to make an impact
3. Do – Explore the next step to increase their impact

Memory Verse:
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. - Jeremiah 29:11-12

A Soul Craving For Nerf Gun Adventure

What does the soul of a child crave?

One easy answer is ADVENTURE!

Children's imagination is alive and lights up at the possibility of an epic adventure. We can see this in all the video games and movies for children out there. We are going to go on a Nerf Gun Adventure

For the next three Sundays we are going to explore "Soul Cravings" for children through the theme of "Fighting the Good Fight of Faith"

The Memory Verse - 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Fighting the Good Fight for the Lord starts when we FIGHT SIN and FIGHT DOUBT. But we can only do this when we FIGHT WITH GOD’S STRENGTH.

For the first two Sundays children are going to have different targets that represent sin and doubt and they are going to use NERF GUNS to take them out!

These are the three main points we want the children to discover:
1) May 15, Fighting the Good Fight of Faith means we will Fight Sin in Our Lives
2) May 22, Fighting the Good Fight of Faith means we will Fight Doubt in Our Lives
3) May 29, Fighting the Good Fight of Faith means we will Fight Sin and Doubt with God’s Strength

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: Children will not be making targets out of each other! Children also don't need to bring their own nerf guns. We have all we need

It's Not Easy Being the World's Future

We are in a "Kids Matter" series here at Highview. We believe that children are important and develop our Children's Ministries around this truth.

This coming Sunday we are not having any service in the Lower Level for children. We are all going to be together and engage some fun activities and stations together. We're all going to explore how it isn't easy for children to be the world's future and what we can do to help!

CANS: Please don't forget your food cans this Sunday! We need it for a station and it is going to the "Fill A Freight Truck" project.
